The prefect cruise! by Betty B. from Vancouver, WA
Sailing date: Jan 2010

Pros:
Food, service, ship...the whole package

Cons:
Some of the entertainment

The Radiance of the Seas is a very beautiful ship, with exceptional service all around the ship. Lots of variety in activities, Attention to Detail. The Captain made very interesting and informative announcements every day. They really work hard to try to please you not only in your room but in dining and all over the ship. Very impressive! We had such a relaxing cruise and lots of fun!

The ship is in immaculate order and kept very clean. Nice rooms and lounges. could provide dancing in larger floored room like the Colony instead of the Centrum.

Dining/Food
Usually on ships my legs and feet swell a lot due to the salt in the food but not so on this ship. I even had loose rings on my fingers. Lots of choices for those on vegetarian diets. The buffet was high quality and varied. Formal dining very good.

We usually have a balcony but found a good deal on an outside room and it was still good size and in wonderful condition. Loved the pillows.

I thought that they went beyond willingness to make you happy. They repaired a small rip in our luggage, remembered what we liked at dinner and surprised us with seconds on our favorite dessert, and even the shops were very helpful and adjusted items for our benefit.

Entertainment & Activities
Most of the entertainment was very good but we felt that their singers and dancers were not as good as we are used to. The music and costumes didn't go together well and no story lines...disappointing!

Pros:
Itinerary

Cons:
Constant marketing-no real information on destinations

The Radiance of the Seas is a lovely big ship. The cabins are nice, although both our balcony and the seating area inside were cramped. (The balcony was our own fault as we picked the cabin that had an angled balcony.) We would have preferred two comfortable chairs and a table to the very small sofa. The bathrooms could be a problem for larger people. The bathroom odor in our section of the ship seemed to be a problem, the ship appears to be economizing on odor-eaters. I don't know if this was true throughout the ship but the odor in our hall was quite distinct and our neighbors also commented on the problem. The room was otherwise clean and well maintained. We felt the entertainment was the best we have experienced at sea.

This is a good rating for us as it was our first "big" ship sailing and we found we prefer smaller (under 1000 passenger) ships. The ship itself was very well maintained.

The food was certainly plentiful and in the case of the specialty restaurants it was excellent. The dining room food was good but not extraordinary. Service, dining times etc. were all excellent.

Getting away from it all by Garrett B from Anchorage, AK
Sailing date: Jan 2010

Pros:
The service was amazing. Always on call and always happy to help you out, no matter what you need. The entertainment from the rock wall to the casino was more then enough to keep me going through all ten days. I dont believe I even saw the entire ship. The ship was also very stable the whole time.

Cons:
The rolls at dinner were a little hard but thats about all I got

The ship seemed well kept for its age. There is so much going on that I have to give due to the crew for keeping it seemingly so organized from the moment you got on till the moment you had to go.

Great ports and woderful weather by John Adamo from Montana
Sailing date: Jan 2010

Pros:
Service was excellent and crew was very attentive.

Cons:
My time dinning and the other dinning ares reduced the quaility of thier menu and food.

We have been on several cruises and considered Royal Carribean the standard for our cruises. The level of the food service, menu and the obvious wear of the interior of the ship did not meet thier previous standards.

A Warm December in Mexico by Mark S. from Oceanside, CA
Sailing date: Dec 2009

Pros:
Sunny ports of call and friendly staff

Cons:
My Time Dining restrictions

Our December cruise took us from rainy San Diego south to the Mexican Riviera. As the days passed the weather got warmer, and on-deck time increased. The ship has indoor and outdoor pools and plenty of deck chairs. The staff was uniformly friendly from the front-line attendants to the jumpsuited engineers and epauleted officers. The amenities were first-rate.

Radiance is a nice size cruise ship; all decks and activities are easy to get to, and quiet spots were to find too. At 90k tons, it has all the amenities that you need.

Dinner in the Cascades dining room always presented outstanding meals, with a choice of dishes to please everyone. If you are a "My Time Diner", be sure to visit the dining room first thing when you board, as contrary to website claims, the Matre d' required that we select a dining time for the duration of our cruise.

We booked an ocean-view stateroom, and later were unexpectedly upgraded to a balcony room. Then, with the help of a Cruisesonly agent, were able to move our reservation to a cabin 2 doors down from our traveling companions. Kudos to the agent's persistence in dealing with the cruise line.

Great Cruise and Great Value by Bernd K from Fullerton , California
Sailing date: Nov 2009

Pros:
The friendliness of the crew.

Cons:
Shower was a little small.

This was our third cruise this year, and the only disappointment was that it was a few days too short. The crew was extremely courteous, helpful, and efficient. I fell in the cafeteria one day while getting my food. Apparently a small bit of food dropped by someone got under my heal and down I went. I was not hurt, got up and went about my business. Within 5 minutes a staff member approached my table and asked me if I needed any medical attention, etc. Apparently someone on the cafeteria staff had seen this, watched to see where I was sitting, and then reported it. Just an example of a crew that takes pride in what they are doing. I have previously written about a bad experience we had with NCL, so felt obligated to write this, as this cruise was a great experience from the time we checked onboard until we left the ship.

A bgrteat cruise on a beautiful ship by Doug W. from Arlington, VA
Sailing date: Nov 2009

Pros:
The room

Cons:
The dining room staff

Everything was great about this cruise - the ship itself, the room, (most of) the staff, the entertainment. The captain was particularly fun - good personality and accessible. The destination (Cabo San Lucas) was as advertised, but the days just at sea were the best. Highly recommended.

Dining/Food
The specialty dining rooms - staff and food - were great, but the Portofino Italian restaurant was exceptional. Our waiter (his assistant and the head waiter) in the Main Dining Room were a major disappointment. The waiter always tried to talk to as many tables as possible at once - no sense of individual attention. Had to ask several times for bread and water. Plus, the waiter would squeeze the salad dressing from a packet right at the table - very tacky. "My Dining" plan was not good because this inept staff was tipped in advance - maybe that's why they didn't seem to care so much.

Why didn't I start cruising years ago? by Janice G. from Longmont, CO.
Sailing date: Nov 2009

Pros:
A stress free vacation

Cons:
ummmmmm, can't Think of one.

The ship is well maintained, the crew professional and friendly. Signs and directional markers in easy view. A publication was placed in our room by the attendant every day so we knew what was happining on board at all times. The food was well made, the fruit fresh, and the belly full. ;-)

Feelings from the King & Queen by Elaine A from Pueblo, Colorado
Sailing date: Nov 2009

Pros:
we were treated like royalty

Cons:
the cruise was not long enough

We felt as though we were a King & Queen for 5 days. From the woderful staff that is from all different countries & walks of life they treat you like gold, and have such grace with everything they do for you. During those 5 days you are made to feel so special and you bond with all of the staff. Even the ship captain every time he spoke over the intercom he made everything so appealing and funny. We can say from the food to the room, this was the most relaxing and fun vacation we have ever had. the ship was magnificiant. We will be planning more trips with friends and family. It was like heaven.
