A little disappointed by
Sarina T from Texas Sailing date: Nov 2009Pros: The ports and excursions were great!! Cons: The food was border-line bad, especially compared to our previous cruises. There was also some significant communication issues when it came time to tender into Grand Caymen. We waited in the gangway for over an hour - crushed in like sardines - with no direction or communication with staff. Overall - the ship itself was fine. Ship QualityClean and squared away. Dining/FoodThe buffet food was average. The food in the dining rooms was border-line bad. The meat was often over-cooked and tough. However, almost all ofthe desserts were great. Stateroom QualityKept very clean, Ship Staff QualityThe staff was friendly, but did not go out of their way to accomodate. They did not call us by name or seem to remember who we were, as we experienced on previous cruises. Entertainment & Activities
Children's ProgramsBy the last day, my 3yr old son was begging to stay at Camp Carnival. The staff there was really great. Five stars in this area!! 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  Carnival Western Caribbean Cruise by
dan H from Sacramento, CA Sailing date: Oct 2009Pros: The Friendly, courteous service. I have been on several Carnival Cruises and this one was typical of all the others. Cons: There should be more time spent at each port-of-call, so a person gets a chance to see a little more of each stop. Was a great ship to travel on. Staff and crew were excellent. Ship was clean. Food was very good. I was satisfied with the ship. Ship Quality

  1st Time Cruiser Fun by
Barbara B from Granbury, TX Sailing date: Oct 2009Pros: We loved the bands and poolside and food.. Ate way too much but had a blast. Cons: We hated the smoke on the 5th floor. All should have to smoke on deck or in VERY SMALL ventilated areas. By the middle of the cruise the 5th floor, where all the excitement is was unbarably smokey . Just not necessary when there are so many open areas where they could be smoking. The ship was bigger than we ever imagined. There were lots of things going on at all times. You could just lay back and relax near the pools or dress up a bit on elegant days. I liked the casual night dress days. I believe they keep the elegant nights not for the people but for the huge amount of pictures they try to sell you. We had our picture taken at every corner. It got a little out of control.
With all the people we thought it was going to be crowded but when everyone went to different events none of them had long lines so it was pleasant.
Drinks are high in price and a bit inconsistent. A small rum and coke was the same price as a large fancy pina colata. Tips were higher than most would pay. $70 a day for each person. Then they begged for more at the end. I think they should just add the $140 a couple into the original price of the cruise and be upfront with what the total costs will be. I'll be prepared next time.
Gift stores were nice. Should have more choices of larger size men's shirts as I saw lots of large men around who wouldn't be able to fit in one. We followed a Philipino band around everywhere who had a wide selection of songs. I'm now a Philipino band groupy. It was great. Ship QualityShip was very clean. I like the little papers they supply to grab the bathroom door handles. A basket to dispose of the paper right outside the door. Dining/FoodLunch Buffet had a few main courses that were awful. We ate mostly in the diningroom. Everything was great and if you didn't like the spices or something they would bring you anything you wanted. I gained 11 pounds (Ouch!) Stateroom QualityStateroom staff are like Ninga's. You barely see them but as soon as you leave your room they are in it cleaning, straightening and retoweling. A new towel animal on bed each night. What a riot. Ship Staff QualityElvis our waiter was the best. Chris the cruise director did a fantastic job. Entertainment & ActivitiesMaybe one to many showgirl shows. Another mixed entertainment day would be fun. Children's ProgramsNever used this service but there were lots of kids and we barely saw them as they kept them occupied - Who can ask for more. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

A Traveler from Henryetta,OK Sailing date: Sep 2009Pros: relaxing, being waited upon Cons: Too much smoking on board.Library hours too limited, Internet Cafe in conjunction with CI easy to find things after the first day. clean
Ship Quality
Dining/FoodGood most of time, waiter would bring alternate choice if first choice was not as expected, loved servers entertainment Stateroom Qualityample storage, comfortable bed, fun animals. Balcony not as enjoyable as hoped. Smokers on each side. Ship Staff QualityAlways stepped out of way in crowded places, smiling, eager to please. Entertainment & ActivitiesTheater shows good variety. Costumes too brief but very flashy. Various lounges had good offerings but smoke discouraged us.liked puzzles and trivia. We are not Casino fans. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

Conquest: one in a million by
Stinkerbelle from Jackson, Ms. Sailing date: Sep 2009Pros: We love getting "a room with a view". We think paying a little extra for a balcony room is well worth it. Cons: the ship's food - but in all fairness I don't like any of the other ship's food either This was our third cruise on the Conquest. We just love the ship. We've taken cruises on her out of New Orleans and Galveston. NO was our favorite simply because it was our very first cruise. The decorations on the ship are wonderful and the layout makes it fairly simple to get around the ship. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodThe food lacked something to be desired. The room service menu is dull and bland. Stateroom Qualitythe balcony stateroom was wonderful! Ship Staff Qualityall of the staff we came into contact with were smiling, friendly and very helpful. This Cruise is a MUST!! by
Joanna H from Dallas, TX Sailing date: Aug 2009Pros: Visiting different countries and never having to lug my suitcase with me! Cons: I can't think of a con! We recently embarked upon our first cruise and headed to the Western Caribbean aboard the Carnival Conquest. Oh my goodness, what a fantastic trip. The ship was amazing. We chose a cabin with a balcony and it was worth every penny. Waking up to the sunrise across the beautiful ocean and watching the sunset with a glass of wine on your own private balcony is priceless. The amenities on the ship were endless - I was exhausted just reading about everything you could see, do and participate in. The staff were all fantastic without exception and there wasn't anything they couldn't do for you. The choice of food was remarkable, we ate in every restaurant from the buffet to the elite "Point Supper Club" and we were never disappointed. Jamaica was our first stop - don't be put off by the organized chaos at the port - the Jamaicans are very vivacious! We chose horse riding at the Braco Estate - how many people can say they have ridden bare back in the Caribbean? Next stop was Grand Cayman where Stingray City is a must see and finally Cozumel where we enjoyed Paradise Beach and some parasailing. My main advice would be to try to find out where everything is on the ship as soon as you can so you don't waste time walking between the forward and the aft looking for where you want to be! Take advantage of the wine package if you enjoy a bottle of wine with your dinner and look over the itinerary they prepare for you daily to make the most of what's on offer. I highly recommend this cruise and all it has to offer - thank you Carnival! Ship QualityEverywhere was clean, the decor was great and once I worked out where everything was we were good to go! Dining/FoodWe ate in every restaurant and don't have one complaint - the food was top quality Stateroom QualityOur stateroom steward did a fabulous job, our room was a good size and was always clean. Ship Staff QualityEveryone was friendly, helpful and always had a smile on their face - not sure how they do it really!! Entertainment & ActivitiesFrom miniature golf to trivia quizzes and Bingo, music, comedy and karaoke - so many things to do and so little time!
