Great Ship by
A Traveler from calgary canada Sailing date: Jan 2010Pros: Loved the Happy atmosphere great Cruise Director "Tex" The ship was great! Easy to find your way around. Loved that you stayed on "Ship Time" for the whole cruise. Liked that carnival let you check your on board account via the T.V. as well as the daily menu and booking excursions.
The excursions offered at the ports were very well organized and reasonable priced. Loved that the ports that we tendered at Carnival hired the local tender company, this making it faster with bigger size boats and more of them than the ships tenders. Ship Qualityvery nice layout. Seemed nothing was too far. Dining/FoodLiked the many dining options. Pizza, mexican, deli, fish and chips, and hamburger/ hot dog. We ate at the Steak House quite pricey compared to other cruise lines. $30.00 per person. If you wanted lobster with a larger steak that was $20.00 extra. Stateroom QualityGreat stateroom service. Rooms were quite roomy for a ship. Lots of space to hang clothes. T.V. picture tube didn't work kept going out on us. Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & ActivitiesVery good excursions to choose from reasonable priced. Well organized. Children's ProgramsWe didn't have children with us on the cruise. There were 700 kids under the age of 18 on the ship and you would never of known it. They must have a great program to keep the children all happy and busy. 3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

  Great Ports of Call by
Brian K. from Bel Air, Md. Sailing date: Jan 2010Pros: Shows were fantastic Cons: Rude elderly guests Great service and ports of call. I have been to most ports in the Caribbean and was completely shocked by the beauty of Roatan, Honduras. Please do yourself a favor and take the Tabyana Beach Break excursion. This was the most beautiful beach I have ever seen in the world. Even better than Meagan's Bay, St. Thomas. For $36 per person you get all day at the beach which is not crowded and some of the best snorkeling right off the beach. Ship QualityShip was very clean but I wasn't too impressed with the decor. Navigating the ship was a little confusing at first but after a day or two it was manageable. Dining/FoodFood in the Washington Dinning room was excellent. Our server could of had a better personality but he did a good job overall. Elegant nights were Monday & Thursday.
I don't know what it was but numerous elderly people were just plane rude at the buffet. They would just butt in front of you or push you out of the way. I had to laugh as I respect my elders but it was funny to watch how inconsiderate they could be. Stateroom QualityCabin was spacious and spotless. Beds were very comfortable and the Cabin Steward was incredible. Ship Staff QualityOverall very helpful. Entertainment & ActivitiesBest shows I have experienced in my four cruises. Don't miss the 80's music review show "Far From Over". It's rated the #1 show on the entire Carnival Fleet. The Juggler and comedy acts are also must sees. Children's ProgramsGreat staff and my 10 year old son had a blast! 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

  A Great Cruise by
Patricia Ghyselinck from Exeland, WI Sailing date: Jan 2010Pros: The food, service, entertainment and port visits were fascinating Cons: Some of the language and the G string costumes at the family shows were not appropriate nor needed. The ship was beautiful. It was fun to explore all the lounges, hallways, theaters, spas, balconies, decks, kitchens, etc. Ship QualityThe ship was beautiful. Lots of rooms, decks, lounges, and overall areas to explore and use. Cleanliness was excellent. Staff continually worked to make sure everything was clean. It was nice to have the ship maps to find the places we wanted to see. Dining/FoodFood quality was very good. Only one time did we have to say anything about the warmth of the food...specifically the Waldorf Salad. The quantity of food and quality otherwise was wonderful. Stateroom QualityThe beds were very comfortable. We were thankful for the refrigerators and the quick response of the stewards when we had special requests. It did take us awhile to find our rooms but that got easier later in the week. It was nice to be able to control the temperature of our rooms ourselves. Bathrooms were great as were the extra robes, blankets, towels etc. It would be nice to have a microwave too. Ship Staff QualityAll the staff were very accomodating. They would almost clean our dirty dishes off before we had a chance to use them. They were also very friendly and would always smile and welcome us warmly. Entertainment & ActivitiesCoreography was excellent as were the dancers, singers, and performers. There was some bad use of language and costumes that had g-strings that could have been ommitted but for the most part the costumes, lights and effects were beautiful. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

  Carnival exceeded my expectations by
Thomas D from Jacksonville, Florida Sailing date: Nov 2009Pros: Great services and lots of activities Cons: Sport bar T.V not always working Great time with the family, the service was great , the food was good and the ports of call were exciting. The ship also had a lot of activities while at sea. We had not been on a Carnival Cruise since 2000 they have improved in all areas and would sail with them again Ship QualityGreat American theme, with two main dinning rooms the Lincoln and Washington that divided the ship in two areas which may it sometimes alittle unaccessible from 3rd and 4th floors. The ship was very clean Dining/FoodMain dinning food was good and the Lido deck had lots of options. The special restaurant the "Scarlet" was worth the money , great meal. Great coffee shop too Stateroom QualityThe sheets and towels were of good quality and the pillows were soft and comfortable, The balcony was a little small compare to other ships we have been on. Also had lots of room for the cloths and your bags Ship Staff QualitySuite stewart and dinning room staff was great, the spa staff was ok. I felt a little rushed Entertainment & ActivitiesLots to do on the fun ship and they had lots of activities for families 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

  My first cruise ever by
Elizabeth G. from Daytona Beach, Florida Sailing date: Nov 2009Pros: The whole experience Cons: The weather Great ship. The stateroom accommodations were above my expectations, large state rooms, quiet, clean, and comfortable. The dining areas, as well as the dining room were very well placed, easy to get to. The atrium was very pretty, allowing us to experience evenings of informal entertainment. I was extremely worried about motion sickness. But in spite of hurricane Ida, I was sick only the night we pulled out of port. The stabilizers apparently did an excellent job for us. Ship QualityI wanted a BIG ship, and this was it. It appears to be very well maintained, clean in all areas, and easy to get around. Dining/FoodBreakfasts were excellent. I loved the dinner Cherries Jubilee and the Baked Alaska with the Vanilla Sauce. Otherwise, most meals were average, but presented very nicely. Stateroom QualityMy biggest surprise was the size of the stateroom and the accommodations in general. Our stewards kept it spotless and neat at all times. The towel animals were a special treat I looked forward to each evening. I was very comfortable. Ship Staff QualityEveryone was quite friendly acknowledging us as we walked by. The dining room wait staff went above and beyond with their two nights of song and dance, and true treat. The stewards did an excellent job of keeping up with our stateroom. We wanted for nothing. Our stateroom stewards were knowledgeable and able to answer questions, especially when it came time to go home. Entertainment & ActivitiesI would like to have seen more of the variety(dancing, singing) type of shows. Also would have appreciated the showing of movies in the afternoon and evenings. And finally, it would have been fun to see a few plays.
On a very positive note -- I especially want to thank Carnival and their staff for the opportunity to attend their Veterans Day program. My brother (fellow traveller) is retired Navy, and we were quite impressed with the military program. We were very pleased to see our Veterans were recognized on that day, and glad to be able to attend the ceremonies. Thanks much. Children's ProgramsWe had no children with us, but hearing how many were on board, I was amazed. The Camp Carnival must have done an excellent job of entertaining the children. Thank You. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

  a good cruise by
James S. from Fort Myers, Fl Sailing date: Nov 2009Pros: The cabin person was just great!!! As was our dinning room waiter wrer SUPER!!! Cons: On Nov. 11, there was not ONE event to honor all the people who have served!!! That was not what expected! We enjoyed ourself and were treated very good. One of my disapointments was on planned tribute for our armed forces, on NOV. 11. That is veterens day, to most it might not be that important anymore, not a news maker. I guess at my age i still hold close to my heart the service these people did for this Great country. Ship Quality
