An excellent time and trip. by
Robert T from Sprakers, NY Sailing date: Sep 2009Pros: The staff were fantastic, the food well prepared and tasted great. Cons: Ship took the outer passage which was not advertised-it was a rough day or so. From the check in to the departure the cruise was well thoughtout and well planned. The ship was neat and clean, the crew (both on board and ashore) were friendly and helpful. The cruise director made sure that there were plenty of activities (not just the casino) and many for free. This was one of the most pleasureable cruises that I have taken and would recommend it to anyone who likes to cruise. Ship QualityFor an 'older' ship, vintage 1997-the ship was very well maintained and the decor pleasing and bright and cheerful. Dining/FoodMy Time dining was a plus advantage, the waitstaff were excellent and went to whatever extent needed to please everyone. The food varity was very good and well prepared and presented. Stateroom QualityThe stateroom (interior) was very small but clean, well taken care of, and all that we needed. Ship Staff QualityAt every step the crew bent over backwards to be of assistance to us and those who traveled with us. A nicer crew could not have been found!
Entertainment & ActivitiesNice variety of shows of a very high caliber. Timing was odd at times but worked out for the most part. Children's ProgramsHad plenty of staff and while disappointed at times to closed activities, it was the weather, not the crew who dictated the conditions, The crew took extra precautions to ensure passinger safety at all times. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

  Ask questions by
Margaret B from Shafter, Ca. Sailing date: Sep 2009Pros: Land Cons: Open sea We chose the less expensive room. It was our first cruise and we didn't know the location of our inside room was the worst place you could be if a storm came up.
Level 7 at the front of the ship.
My husband and I both got sick when on open sea because of swells and spent most of our sick time in the library which was recommended to us by the doctor.
After the medication was administered to us at a cost of $550.00 the total of 4 days was spent sleeping.
Three days on shore were really nice.
Staff on the ship were curtious, but we didn't socialize much.
Ship Qualityolder, larger ship Dining/FoodDinning room food better than buffet, but it not comfortable to average person because of formality in serving and setting with strangers who are busy telling you they are wealthy. So when we could eat we ate at buffet. Food had instrutional taste after a while. There was plenty, but not much taste. That was to be had in sit down dinner which was fabulous. Stateroom QualityDon't get the economy room. Like being in a small trailer for 7 days Ship Staff Qualityalways smiling Entertainment & Activitiesaverage or below except for the nights that the dancers and singers productions were done. they were really nice. The others seemed to be fillers. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

I would go again in a heart beat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Was a bit sea sick but with all the activity's on the ship it took my mind off being sea sick. Royal Carribbean "Rhapsody of the Seas" was the ship that I was on and it was great!!!!!!! Ship QualityWas very clean Stateroom Qualityvery comfortable and clean Ship Staff Qualitygoing above and beyond Entertainment & Activitiesentertainment was great, had things to do on ship that i am sure would please everyone 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

RCCC did a great job by
A Traveler from MN Sailing date: Sep 2009Pros: destination ports Cons: port terminal location change first day. Five of us were in our group. We all have varying interests and expectations. Each of us had a wonderful time. Ship QualityThe ship was beautiful and clean.
We especially appreciated the music venues, art work, main theater, and solarium pool areas.
The public meeting areas were spacious and well laid out. Dining/FoodMain buffet area too busy at times. Otherwise no problems....food (and variety of food) was great. Stateroom QualityRoom was functional and well laid out.
Location mid ship was perfect for us. Ship Staff QualityThanks again to Larry and Mariska who were our servers in the main dining room. They were more than patient, kind and helpful to our group. Entertainment & ActivitiesWe all enjoyed the activities that were offered. It was difficult at times to choose what to do.
The production shows were good. Kivi Rogers was great, the jugglers were wonderful, and the gaucho act was an unexpected pleasure to watch. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  A Boring Cruise by
Lisa T from Muskego WI Sailing date: Aug 2009Pros: The Cabin Cons: There was nothing to do! We were at sea 3 days and found there was nothing to do. The seas were very, very rough and the weather was nasty so any outdoor activities were cancelled or unpleasant to attend. We had the late dinner seating (8:30) and expected to see the show after dinner but the show was before dinner (7:00) so there was nowhere to go after dinner except the casino, the bar or bed. During the day the choices were about the same! Ship QualityThe ship was very clean, you could tell it was an older ship. It was easy to get around. Dining/FoodThe food was average, I expected much better. There were alot of choices and plenty of it except after 9:00 pm. Stateroom QualityThis was the best part of the cruise. We had an inside cabin on the 7th floor, it was big and roomy. Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & ActivitiesThe kids had alot more activities to choice from! 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

  Superb Cruise!!! by
NS from OKC,OK Sailing date: May 2009Pros: The food, the staff, the stops (Juneau, Skagway and Victoria, B.C.) Cons: Not enough time in Juneau and Victoria, Minimums at the casino tables were too high and the table games tournaments entry fees were too high. Very impressed with the ship, especially enjoyed that it was non-smoking on 99% of the ship. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodExcellent variety!!! Stateroom QualityThis was an anniversary gift for us and our attendent did everything he could to make our trip memorable!!! Ship Staff Quality

It couldn't have been better. by
A Traveler from USA Sailing date: Jun 2009It couldn't have been better. The only concern I have was with your fitness director and her presentations. I went to two presentations (Waistline and tummy slimmer) and I vowed I would NOT go to another one. All she was doing was giving a sales pitch on her detoxing program. I listened the first time and the second presentation I could answer her questions. She did NOT give any suggestions at all in any area. I was very disappointed. Before I went to her presentations I did make an appointment to have a Hot Stone Massage. That was absolutely wonderful!!! I would do it again in a heart beat. Our cabin services were the best and the meals in the dining room were out of this world as was the service. Thank You Thank You for wonderful memories for my husband and myself. 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

  Alaska was awesome! by
Rhonda F. from Sedalia, MO Sailing date: Jun 2009Pros: The scenery was breath taking, and whale watching was unbelievable Cons: Not enough time to see and do everything. We had sailed on the Rhapsody of the Sea before so we knew what to expect. The entertainment was a little disappointing this time with only two nights that they offered the entire song and dance group. Others on the ship had commented on this too. Food was excellent and staff very helpful. Ship Quality

  Lack of Communication by
A Traveler from Columbus, Ohio Sailing date: May 2009Pros: Alaska Scenery Cons: Lack of communication from the captain and staff We have been on a total of four cruises with three different carriers. This was by far the worst. We received very little information from the captain and staff as to what was going on. There was very little information on the TV as to location of the ship, expected arrival at next port, distance traveled etc. This was standard information on other cruise lines. We seldom heard from the captain and he did not even show up for the "Photos with the Captain" event. Instead, the assistant captain showed up. This trip was supposed to include a cruise past a glacier in Tracey Arm Fjord. In the middle of cruising this area, the ship abruptly turned around and headed back out of the channel. It was not until later that we found out that the captain had decided not to proceed up the channel due to ice conditions. We were told that an announcement to this affect was made below deck, but not on deck. Most of the people were on top deck to see the glacier, so we never heard this announcement. As a matter of fact, you could not hear the announcements on deck, in the restaurants, or in your state room. The only place that you heard the announcements were in the halls and common area below deck. Many people were complaining.
One other problem was the show scheduling. Our dinner time was set at 8:30pm. We scheduled this trip in February, for the first part of June and that was the only dinner time available. The show scheduling was set up so that sometimes we could not make either show, without missing dinner. Some people left dinner early or came late, in order to at least catch part of the show. Royal Caribbean came highly recommended to us, but I would have to say as far as the Rhapsody of the Seas is concerned, I would not recommend it at all.
Ship QualitySome ships mandate the use of hand sanitizer in all public areas, especially food areas. This ship did not. Dining/FoodFood quality was good enough. The scheduling was not so good. The buffet would close early and sometimes one side would close forcing you to move to the other side during your meal. Not much variety in restaurant choice. Stateroom QualityThe room was comfortable enough and the size for a cruise ship was good. The room staff that we had was very good. Ship Staff QualityAs in most cases, some good some bad. The biggest complaint was with the captains staff and the lack of communication. Entertainment & ActivitiesOne decent show from a guest group. Other entertainment was just so-so. We very seldom heard from the cruise director as to what events were going on and when. Other ships gave a reminder thirty minutes or so before the events were to begin.

Juneau, AlaskaVery nice city to visit. Our excursion was way over priced even with our supposed 15 percent discount. We could have waited until we got to Juneau and bought the same excursion for less then half price.
Skagway, AlaskaVery nice place to visit. Nice scenery and lots of things to do.
Victoria, British ColumbiaVery beautiful city. Most sites within walking distance.
