It was our first cruise and we used it as a honeymoon cruise. We are already planning a family cruise being that we have 6 children between us. The ship was AS beautiful as some of the 5 star hotels I have worked in. The staff was very personel Steve the cruise driector ( totally can tell he loves his crew) Lonnie in the Dukes lounge Incredible entertainer should have more shows. Cortez and Corey the Entertainment staff were great...We didnt get off the ship in Ensenada because there was SO much to do ON the ship...

Disappointing
by Larry F. from Stockton, CA
Sailing date:
Oct 2009
Pros:
Stateroom was nice.
Cons:
Restaurant Staff
This cruise appeared to be a young people's economy party cruise. The restaurant staff was less than enthusiastic when asked for something. I had to see at least two staff members to get whatever I was requesting (milk). It was interesting to see many passengers wearing their bath robes all over the ship in including the restaurants. They were used for cover-ups over bathing suits or coats over clothing. Something happened that were not the cruise lines fault like having to return to port due to sick passenger. But, engine broke and caused us to spend another 5 hours at port. Debarking was hours behind schedule due to passengers not following instructions.

A fun and relaxing getaway!!
by Kelly W. from Victorville, CA
Sailing date:
Oct 2009
Pros:
The wide variety of activities to enjoy and time to just relax.
My husband and I cruised on the Paradise in September of 2008 and we had an amazing time. We went back home and spread the word on how wonderful it was and how worth the expense it was. We convinced some friends to cruise with Carnival for their honeymoon in October of 2009 and they had a fabulous time. And then we convinced 6 couples to join us again and we all cruised on the Elation in October of 2009. We had a wonderful time just relaxing on the ship and enjoying eachothers company out by the pool and at the many activities that were offered. We appreciated so much the staffs willingness to accomondate us as a large group of 14 people. We were all able to sit with eachother for meals in the dining restaraunt. Our waiters were amazing and so was the food. We've all decided to make a cruise an annual event, and with Carnival and their reasonable prices I see that it is a great possibility. Thank you again Carnival for a wonderful getaway!

The cruise was Good
by Emalyn F. from San Diego, CA
Sailing date:
Oct 2009
Pros:
Food & Music
Cons:
Being stuck at port for 7 hours.
This was our first cruise so we were very excited about our little get away. Everything went well except for the next day. We were suppose to be "out to sea" but we ended up turning around and staying back at our port for 7 hours because of a "technical" problem. It really ruined our experience and demotivated us to enjoy the ship that day. It felt just like the first day. I feel we shoud get something in return for waisting our day. Besides the " day at port" experience, everything else was ok.

Dining/Food
I think there should be more variety in the resturant n extra 24 hour food place. Oh and breakdfest bacon was too oily.
Stateroom Quality
Blankets & pillows was awsome. I think if the "do not disturb" sign is up, staff should still put a program under the door because I missed sushi night.
Ship Staff Quality
everyone was awsome except for one lady (bartender near late nigh pizza). What a meanie.

A Good 4 Days
by Carl J. from Bremerton, Washington
Sailing date:
Oct 2009
Pros:
Walking around the Jogging Track and Getting Good Exrecise
Cons:
Paying Through the Nose For Internet Access
It is a well run, well kept ship with good house keeping, good facilities, and good food. I will offer this comment about the ship. The hand rails on the upper level walkways going around the atrium looked a bit flimsey. There is every reason those hand rails should be designed and built just as strong as the hand rails on the outdoor walkways which protect people from falling overboard. It is every bit as dangerous to fall from one of those upper level walkways going around the atrium, as it is to fall overboard.

Fun, Fun Elation!
by Ana N. from San Diego
Sailing date:
Oct 2009
Pros:
Great service, Delicious dinners!
Cons:
Sushi Bar was disappointing
This is my third time on the Elation in 20 months and I've enjoyed each cruise. The ship is well maintained and I did not notice anything that was in disrepair. I noticed that the ship now has the Serenety deck and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time there sitting in the hot tub and relaxing on the lounge chairs.

Ship Quality
Since this is my third time on this ship, I knew my way around. The concierge on the Empress deck have a deck layout brochure for new passengers.
Dining/Food
I enjoyed all the different food venues! Breakfast at the dining room was very good, the room service was prompt and the toasted bagels were still warm even. Tiffany's buffet was decent. I enjoyed the mongolian grill. The dinners at the main dining were excellent! We were a group of four friends and we always ordered an extra entree "to taste". We had the early dining and it worked out for us.
Stateroom Quality
We had the inside cabin category 1A ( upper/lower) as we were four friends in two cabins. Our cabin had more than enough space for all our stuff. The beddings were very comfortable. The cabin was quiet and there wasn't much foot traffic down our hallway.
Ship Staff Quality
Our cabin steward, Gusti, did a great job keeping our room clean. We were greeted by staff often while walking around. The cruise director, Steve Knisley, was funny, entertaining and extremely personable. The best part of the cruise was dinner time as we had the best dinning steward, Lazlo from Hungary and his assistant, Romano, from the Philippines! Very attentive to not just our table but every table they served. Romano kept our water glass full and their service was exteremly efficient!
Entertainment & Activities
We attended some of the activities like Country Line Dancing class, High Tea, The Thriller dance class, the Hypnotist Shows (both), Blues show @ the Cole Porter lounge...I enjoyed them all except for the Blues show because the singer talked too much and kept emphasizing the need for us to wirte a good review on the comment card for his show. He wasn't that good as an entertainer though he sings fine.

Overall an excellent vacation
by A Traveler from Los Angeles, CA
Sailing date:
Sep 2009
Pros:
Whole Experience and the food was excellent.
Cons:
Entertainment, Dining options
Overall I had a great time. I would have liked to do a spin class but I felt the $12 charge wasn't worth it and the availability wasn't very convenient. Also I felt the casino machines were difficult to use, could be made simpler.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Ship was very clean and well maintained. I think everything was set up very nicely.
Dining/Food
Food was good, server was excellent. Really liked the songs and dance the waiting staff performed. However I was apart of a party for two and when we entered the dining room I asked the host if they had a table for two. The host completely ignored my request and sat us in a group dining table. I didn't mind sitting at a group table if there were no other two person tables available. Just a response would have been nice. Also it would be nice if there were no dress requirements minus the formal night. We are on vacation and should feel free to come to dinner as we please.
Stateroom Quality
The room was nice although it did lack a refrigerator and garbage can in the bathroom. Also the temperature control was not easily findable. We couldn't find it at first. The room steward we never met, as we have in past cruises.
Ship Staff Quality
There were some members that did go above and beyond and some that didn't. Saonee the pool bartender provided excellent service and really made our vacation enjoyable. Wasn't pleased with the dinning host as explained above. Also during the muster drill there was a young lady who was a bit harsh during the drill. Yelling constantly for everyone to listen to the announcements. I understand safety is important but we are on vacation.
Entertainment & Activities
I enjoyed the hairy chest competition, couldn't stop laughing. I didn't much care for the shows. I didn't like the comedian or the hypnotist. The dance room was pretty good, although everynight it seemed to take along time to play up to date music (11:30 seemed to be when you really started to enjoy the music).
