Cons:
smoking policy

Smoking is allowed EVERYWHERE on the ship. Difficult to get away from it (I am a non-smoker). While they have a dress code for the dress up nights, they do NOT enforce it, people in shorts, tee shirts and flip-flops on formal nights in the main dining room.

Carnival Glory -- Didn't Disappoint by Gary B. from Orlando, FL
Sailing date: Oct 2009

Pros:
Emerald Room

Cons:
Slow Main Dining Room Service; the music in lounge areas was terrible.

This was our 3rd Carnival Cruise, and we took our adult son for his first cruise. We had 1027 in the Panarama deck, with a balcony, and will never cruise again without a balcony. It lets you enjoy the view in total seclusion. I've read reviews about the Glory showing its age, and I couldn't disagree more. It's a beautiful ship, well kept and our stateroom was attended to with perfection. The addition of the comedy shows really was a big hit with us. The biggest disappointment was how bad the music was throughout the ship. The only good music was the band for the stage shows, but the stage show itself was not nearly as good as we've seen on other cruises. And our server in the main dining room, although very very nice, was also very very slow. We almost always had our food delivered in our section of the dining room after most everyone else had been served. But all in all, it was a great cruise.

Except for the slow service in the main dining room. The Emerald Room, on the other hand, had superior service and was very elegant. Made our anniversary celebration very nice.

Not a lot to do unless your a very senior senior citizen. We went to the comedy shows 3 different nights, but the onboard activities are pretty "cruise lame".

Another great Carnival Cruise by A Traveler from Belleair Beach FL.
Sailing date: Oct 2009

Pros:
Casual atmosphere

Cons:
Walk from front of ship to rear of ship to eat.

This was our first time on the Carnival Glory and we were very pleased with just about everything and would not hesitate to sail on her again. All areas of the ship was clean and up to date. We are in our 70's and and husband has a leg problem so we did not care for the long walk from the front of the ship to our assigned eating area and the Lido Deck at the back of the ship. Casino could use more smaller denomination slot machines since these were the most crowded everytime we went there. The $1.00 dollar machines and above were usually empty most of the time. We enjoyed the shows with the dancers but passed on some of the other entertainment that was available. As on all our other cruises the staff was excellant and the service was what we had hoped for. They coulld't do enough to please you where ever you went or wanted.

Never Canival again... by Matt H from Orlando, FL
Sailing date: Oct 2009

Pros:
The Emerald Room (dining experience)

Cons:
Most everything else

Very dated for a ship that is only six years old. We decided to give Carnival a second chance after going on other cruise lines (Royal C.). I figured that one of their newer class ships would be better in overall quality and activities compared to the older, mid-size ships of their fleet in which I had cruised on before... but I was wrong. I cruised on the Royal C. ship of equivalent size built around the same time as this Carnival ship and it was far superior in style, food, service... pretty much everything. We even made sure to get a balcony room on the back of the ship just like on the last Royal cruise, but overall it just wasn't as nice. Now, I do recognize that Carnival is cheaper and technically you get what you pay for so when it all comes down to it - I should have stayed with Royal or another cruise line but, like I said, we figured we would give Carnival another chance... Ironically, one of the staff members told us that even cruise line employees between different companies (including Carnival) view Carnival (the Carnival brand itself - not the other higher quality lines they own) as the lowest class of the cruise industry and they make the least amount of money working on Carnival (which may explain the attitude of some of the staff).

All staff was ok with exception of dining room staff... we asked one night to take our food from the dining room after seeing another waiter let their table do so (my wife was feeling ill and we were going back to the room) - the waiter insisted that we could not do that and he would not allow it.

Great As Usual by Dianna C from Charleston, SC
Sailing date: Oct 2009

Pros:
The atmosphere of this ship - Carnival - Glory

Cons:
Casino not paying off

This was my 6th cruise on the Carnival Glory. I love this ship. Easy to get around. Always had a great balcony room. Food GREAT as all Carnival cruises. Is very convenient to travel to, but moving to Ft. Lauderdale (so sorry for this move). I was hoping that the Glory would leave on Saturday and the Dream to leave on Sunday. Shame, shame for Port Canveral not taking two ships. Love Carnival Cruise Lines.

A different experience by Ken S. from Jupiter, FL
Sailing date: Oct 2009

Cons:
the shows

This was the first experience my wife and I had with Carnival. We had sailed six times previously with another cruise line. We joined two other couples who had sailed with Carnival before. While my wife and I were initially disappointed, overall it was a fine vacation experience for us, and we certainly got our money's-worth out of the week. In all of our cruise history we have always opted for the least expensive "inside" cabin. On the Glory, the cabin was a bit smaller than what we have been used to, but definitely adequate. The room was very clean and it was set up exactly as we had requested it. Closet space was plentiful. The only complaint we had with the room was with outlets for electrical appliances. There was only one outlet in the stateroom and one in the bathroom. We bring an electric toothbrush, our cellphones (that required recharging), and I sleep with a C-PAP device that must be plugged in to function. Thank goodness I brought along a multi-outlet surge protector with a long chord. I was able to plug in all the devices we brought along with us. We spent time a little bit of our time on the pool deck. It was nice and there was plenty of seating. I also visited the gymnasium several days and the exercise equipment worked great. The steam room, the sauna, and the whirlpool were visited by my wife and I daily and they were all fabulous. Our experience with the main dining hall was a good one. The food was delicious and the presentation always exceptional. Our servers were good and very personable. The Red Sail Restaurant on the Lido Deck was fine. There was adequate variety with the food selections from day to day, and the optional Oriental site was a place I visited a few times. For me personally, the biggest negative element for the week was the entertainment. The auditiorium at the front of the ship seemed small. The performances were comparable to high school level. The sound was either too loud or too soft. However, the addition of a comedy club was a nice touch. The comedians were good. There were plenty of places onboard to be entertained by soloists. I personally enjoyed the Park West Art Auctions, and am looking forward to the delivery of purchased art. The specialty shops onboard were adequately stocked with a variety of goods, and their staff seemed qualified to answer any questions I had. For my wife and I, it was a nice vacation with two couples we know well and enjoy spending some time with at dinner and at the ports of call. This cruise was not of the caliber as our previous cruises, however, I would consider another Carnival cruise.

Not so glorious Glory by Mark L from Central Florida
Sailing date: Sep 2009

Pros:
Food, waiters size of suites

Cons:
Leadership presence and inability to react to problems quickly. Smoky everywhere

Our experience on the Glory, although maybe not typical, is cause for concern. We had a room problem that required maintenance and cleanup. The response was slow by the crew to rectify and clean up resulting to extreme inconvenience for us for 3 days while at sea or port. There was no back up plan to house us elsewhere or anywhere until we could return to a normal room. We were forced to endure noise and soaked carpets during this period. Adequate compensation was not satisfactory as far as what we endured. Cruise line response has been flippant, although apologetic with simplified caveats. As far as life boat drills, I wish there was a standard held for all guests as opposed to those that were late or never took part. The crew simply ignored them and never asked for their cooperation as they mingled around door ways and inside the hallways. The food was great and plentiful, the wait staff pleasant and attentive and food quantity just perfect. The suite we had was roomy and comfortable with plenty of space; but a VCR, which decade are we in? Temperatures throughout the ship were comfortable. Though we have sailed on Carnival before, we'd look elsewhere next time.

A Wonderful Vacation! by Tina L from Hiddenite, NC
Sailing date: Aug 2009

Pros:
The entertainment was great, the food exceptional & the crew was delightful and fun.

My new husband and I decided to take a 7 day cruise for our belated honeymoon and what a great idea! The value was great and we enjoyed all the ports. The food was simply amazing! The staterooms were constantly cleaned and "freshened". I can't say enough about how great the crew was! They were so courtious and helpful.
