  An amazing time by
Dawn B from Des Moines, IA Sailing date: Oct 2009Pros: Dining room, activities, staff, overall ship For our first cruise, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The food was amazing (we ate in the dining room most of the time). There were unlimited activities that we only did about 1/8 of them. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were even bigger than I had anticipated (we had a balcony room). We went with a group of 20 and not a single one of us has a complaint. Definitely looking forward to cruising on the Destiny again. Ship QualityLoved it. Ship was way big enough for our first experience and layout was fine. We spent most of our time on the lido deck and on the floor with all the bars. ha! This was a blast. Boat was very clean and nice. Dining/FoodWe ate mainly in the Universe Dining room and it was above what we were expecting. Food choices were amzaing and the food was really great. I had the salmon, tilapia, lobster and shrimp and absolutely no complaints. (I don't know how they do it with that many people eating). Our waiter was fun and out going (and polite). Stateroom QualityNot sure how to compare this, but the room was bigger than I was expecting. I've heard horror stories. Honestly, I could care less bout the rooms because we are never in them. As long as there was room for our clothes and a place to sleep is all we cared about. I don't know why people would go on a vacation to hang out in their rooms. But still, we had plenty of space --- even a couch (that we never used). Ship Staff QualityStaff was very friendly and helpful and the help on the lido deck (getting us drinks) were way more efficient than I thought they would be. We were never empty. Entertainment & ActivitiesI thought they almost had too much to do because we couldn't do it all. Maybe we need to schedule a longer cruise next time. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

This was a great cruise! by
Debbie C from Sarasota FL Sailing date: Nov 2009Pros: The food was terrific, and loved Grand Cayman Island. Cons: Jamaica was a disappointment We enjoyed our balcony room. All of the crew were attentive and professional. In Grand Cayman we swam with the stingrays after a short trip on a catamaran. It was just incredible! We ate most dinners during the early seating in the main dining room. Had great service and the food was exceptional every night. We did not enjoy Jamaica. The people are very agressive and shopping is very intimidating. Overall we had a great time. Ship Quality

  Destiny cruise in November by
Lori T from Cincinnati Sailing date: Nov 2009Pros: The staff on the ship, ports of call, the ship itself Cons: food, ship cound use refirbishment Overall we had a great time, the key is to keep active in on ship. You could tell the ship was very nice at one time- it was kind of like walking into a 70's house that was kep in really good condition but it still ws a 70's house. The staff was very goodm no issues what so ever- dont let the pictures of the spacious cabins fool you they are tight, we had a outside balcony, bottom line they were small for the two of us I cound not see 4 people in this room. Dining/FoodWe have been on many cruises in the past- the pro's were the anytime seating in the upper dining area & the staff- the food portions were reduced & the food quality was not we have seen on other cruse lines- hot food served cold cold food served hot-- Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff QualityAs i have said before the staff made the cruise Entertainment & Activitiesshows- 2 excellent 1 kind of ok & one really bad- instructions were good, Times worked. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  my very first cruise by
A Traveler from Illinois Sailing date: Sep 2009As this was my very first cruise I can only say that everything from boarding to leaving was far beyond anything I could have wished for. I know of others who have enjoyed cruises in the past and talked about how much fun they had, but until I actually experienced it myself I could not quite understand what they were so excited about. I loved the courtesy of staff (especially our wait staff on table 317) with all of our comforts and needs taken care of without even asking at times. The entertainment, especially the dancers were great. Brent did an excellent job of explaining the necessary steps of departure and each time he was on stage you knew you were in for some fun. I myself enjoyed the tour of the galley and the ice carving as I have spent my life as a farmwife doing cooking and serving for others and also do a lot of cake decorating as a sideline. The quality of the food and presentation was outstanding! I can not think of any one thing that I could complain about so offer a triple A+ and my thanks for a wonderful vacation. Ship Quality

  Excellent Trip by
Steve C. from Tupelo,Ms Sailing date: Sep 2009Pros: There are too many things I liked to pick just one. Cons: Only gripe I really have is that our room had a steward room on the other side & someone was in there every morning way before we were ready to get up and they were quite noisey. I loved the Destiny. It was very clean and we saw people cleaning all the time. Most all the resturants were on our floor as well as a lot of the shops, pools and hot tubs. The stuff not our floor was not hard to get to. The staff of every section of the ship was very nice, polite and did their job in a professional manner. The only person I encountered who seemed to be having a bad day was a guy serving pizza one night. I would recommend this ship to anybody wanting to go on a cruise. The only other thing I thought should be changed was the price of some things on the ship such as drinks ( soft or alcoholic ), souvenirs, snacks, and other items were on the high side. Ship Quality
Dining/Food
Stateroom QualityOur room was actually bigger than I expected. The twin beds had been pushed together which created more walking space and they slept very well. Coming to our room every night to find the bed turned down and a cute towel animal on it was a nice touch. Ship Staff Quality

Maria B. from Westtown, NY Sailing date: Sep 2009Pros: plenty of choices for dining Cons: I cant think of anything I didn't enjoy The ship was wonderful, there was always something to do whether it was comedy, seeing a show, dining, activities by the pool area, and it had an awesome water park. The crew was wonderful, very attentive and I liked the fact that whenever you left your stateroom and came back the room was clean and a different animal made out of towels was on your bed, it was a very nice touch. I loved the cruise Ship Qualityvery, very clean Dining/Foodamazing food and plenty of it!! Stateroom QualityThe stateroom was much bigger than I expected Ship Staff QualityThe crew went above and beyond, they were amazingly friendly and willing to help with everything Entertainment & ActivitiesAll the entertainment and activities were expertly planned 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

  Amazing first cruise experience by
Glenn H from Toronto, ON Sailing date: Sep 2009Pros: Dining, Shows, Staff, Relaxation Cons: Rushed de-embarkation, slow service for served breakfast, a/c too cold This was my first cruise vacation ever and it left an excellent impression, I really enjoyed sailing on Carnial Destiny and look forward to furture cruises. The experience of sunbathing on deck during the day and walking around in the wind at night was enough to forget about home and work.
Add to the amazing food and dining staff, the shows at night and a selection of bars to socialize at, made it one of the best trips I've been on. Ship QualityLayout a bit confusing. air conditioning was a bit out of control in dining hall as well as the embarkation station in Miami. copper siding decor was a bit tacky. Ship was very clean however and the gym/spa area was excellent. Dining/FoodAmazing food quality and selection, and ambiance Stateroom Qualityquiet, comfortable and clean Ship Staff QualityAll staff were friendly and said hi as we walked by them. The dining room staff were so friendly and liked to converse and joke around with us. The singing acts by the the dining staff were very entertaining. Entertainment & ActivitiesWatched all of the evening dance shows, i cannot express how amazing they are, so skilled and sexy, the great music selection.. it was mind blowing. The comedy routing in the criterion lounge was also great.

Cozumel, MexicoSnorkel/zipline tour was very fun, and the resort where it was located was gorgeous. It was a bit of a rushed tour however.
Don't Miss: Snorkeling anywhere Key West, FloridaWould have liked to have had time in the evening to experience the bar and social crowd. It was very hot but the walk down Duval street was very interesting and enjoyable.
Don't Miss: view from lighthouse was fantastic 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful.
